Morganisation
Dave Scott-Morgan, lead vocalist and songsmith of MORGANISATION, has a musical legacy that includes writing songs for Birmingham bands THE MOVE, MAGNUM, THE UGLYS and many others.
His first album of originals – Morgan – was produced by Lou Reizner for US release on the Ampex label in 1971, while Dave was touring America as a folk singer. Back in the UK, his songs brought wider notice when THE MOVE recorded Something (B-side of the number one hit Blackberry Way). In Europe, his song Hiroshima recorded by the British group WISHFUL THINKING became a German hit in 1979, and then in 1991, a European mega-hit when covered by the German artist SANDRA.
From 1981 to 1986, Dave was part of the world famous ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA group (on guitar, synth, vocoder & back-up vocals). He is credited on ELO’s album Secret Messages and also on Jeff Lynne’s Armchair Theatre album, released in 1990.
Dave has also produced several albums of inspirational songs beginning with the Call CD (1997) which included God’s Good Time (a track produced by Jeff Lynne), and followed by Long Way Home (1999), Angel Light (2002) and Wall to Wall (2016).
In the last decade, Dave has been recording, gigging and releasing music under the name MORGANISATION – his music creation team. Core members of the ‘live trio’ are: Alex Lowe (lead guitar), Mandy Scott-Morgan (backing vocals and percussion).
To date there are 7 Morganisation albums available: Across the Divide (2012), Bubbles (2016), Highland (2018), Seven (2019), Made in Britain (2020), Signz (2022), Kafka & Orwell (2024). Dave’s long time collaboration with Richard Tandy (ELO’s keyboard player) resulted in many recordings of his songs: the concept album Earth Rise, the single Berlin and, with guitarist Martin Smith, the charity single Action (produced by Jeff Lynne) and the album The B.C. Collection. In 2019 Dave’s Morganisation fronted an orchestral concert of the Earth Rise album at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
He is currently dusting off some vintage songs and restoring some heritage Brumbeat tracks to share with the world before the tapes disintegrate! Morganisation gigs feature Dave’s original songs plus rock ‘n’ roll classics and quintessential ELO hits.
