The Blackheart Orchestra
The Blackheart Orchestra are multi-award winning, multi-instrumentalists Chrissy Mostyn and Rick Plkington. They comprise a two person ‘orchestra’ playing up to 13 instruments in their unique live show. From their onstage ‘musical space station’ they create highly emotional music featuring a multitude of sounds from vintage synthesisers, acoustic and electric guitars, bass and bowed guitar to piano, organ, omnichord, melodica and electric percussion.
They have been described as a modern day Pink Floyd combining their folk and rock roots with electronica and modern classical influences with Genesis founder Steve Hackett calling their music “Powerful and inspiring” and Motorhead’s Phil Campbell declaring it “F****** beautiful”. Their last two albums have both achieved Top 20 positions with latest album Hotel Utopia charting at #13 in the Official UK Rock Chart and winning Best British Album and Best Song in the USA Progressive Rock Awards where singer Chrissy Mostyn was awarded Best Female Vocalist. The album currently sits on six Best Albums of 2022 lists in the UK.
